Write for us

What is a guest post?

A guest post is when you write an article that will be relevant and helpful to the readers of the In Working Progress blog. We believe that all our readers have something of value to contribute from their own experiences of raising children that will go some way to equipping and encouraging other parents.

What kind of articles are you interested in?

We are interested in anything that will be useful for our readers. Articles can be related to any number of topics ranging from managing behaviour, fun activities, raising children as a single parent, or they can be derived from your own experiences that others may be able to relate to or learn from. Though we welcome articles from professionals (and we will be inviting some to write specialist articles) we are keen to invite all our readers to make a contribution.

What are your guidelines for guest writers?

  • Posts need to be original pieces written for In Working Progress and you must agree not to re-publish them anywhere else on the internet (i.e. your own blog, or as a guest post for someone else).
  • Posts need to be relevant to parents. This could mean writing something offering tips and advice or simply sharing experiences that you feel others could learn from or be encouraged by.
  • There is no minimum length for posts, but we would encourage you to aim for 400-700 words. If posts are particularly long in length, we may consider publishing them as a series.
  • Posts should be written in English and to a good standard. All content will be edited for spelling and grammar as required.
  • Posts must be non-promotional and contain no more than 2 links to other sites.

How do I submit my guest post?

To have your article considered for publishing on the In Working Progress blog you need to do the following:

  • Give us a short biography of yourself and tell us why you want to write for In Working Progress (approx. 50 words).
  • Contact us with an outline of your post idea. We will make an initial assessment and let you know whether it is something we would like to publish. We do not want you to waste your time.
  • Give us details of the links you want to include in your post (max. of 2).
  • If you have previous writing experience, give us an overview or example of what you have done in the past (i.e. you could send us a link to your site or to any articles you have had published elsewhere).

If you have a post idea that meets the above criteria, please email us and we will aim to get back to you within 3 days stating whether we will accept your article or not.

We hope you've found this post helpful. If you have, then we'd like you to consider leaving a comment or subscribing to the RSS feed to have future posts sent directly to your feed reader. See you again!
