About
Welcome to In Working Progress dot com, a UK parenting blog dedicated to parents who know the joys, challenges and excitement of raising children.
Who are we?
We're Nicholas and Melanie and we live in London with our four children - 2 girls and twin boys. We've been married since 1996 and though it sometimes seems bizarre, we're actually still best of friends who love each other very much!
As working parents it'd be fair to say that our work life balance can be demanding even at the best of times (boo hoo!). And despite having a combined background in childcare, youth work, mentoring, coaching and counselling, we've learned that our training can sometimes feel pointless when it comes to raising our own children - a startling revelation!
We enjoy reading, the occasional jog, time with the Fab4 (our children) and friends, and those wonderful moments when we laugh until our bellies hurt! We're also fast developing a taste for blogging and twitter.
Why In Working Progress?
This is a new venture for us - blogging that is, not parenting. But we chose In Working Progress dot com because it best defines how we see ourselves as parents. Not for one minute do we presume to be experts – far from it! In fact, our children will tell you that we're definitely parents in working progress. We would be the first to admit that we don't have all the answers, as we know that just as children and family dynamics are different, so too is the experience of parenting for everyone involved.
Our goal for this website is to engage a community of parents who can equip, encourage and support one another in our efforts to raise children who'll one day become responsible adults, whilst sharing our experiences and learning from each other along the way. To do this we aim to provide fresh and relevant content, and make recommendations to other sites and resources that may be useful to our readers.
Why say your bit?
As parents in working progress we all have something to share that'll go some way to equipping and encouraging other parents. So in addition to comments on this blog, we invite you participate by sharing your parenting experiences with our readers by contributing guest posts.
If you'd like to write for us or make contact with feedback or ideas about how we can improve this website, please get in touch with us via the contact page and we'll get back to you soon.
Thank you for visiting.
